Just as every exquisite meal is a combination of high-quality ingredients, so too does the right combination of materials, patterns, and colors create the perfect bed. At Lejaan, we value simplicity. That's why all our bed linen is designed so that its color scheme allows for combining elements from different collections. We asked our creative director, Jana Hučíková, how to use the Mix & Match option so that the effect serves our interiors.

When choosing, remember that the only thing limiting you is your own imagination. No combination is bad as long as you like it. However, if you still have doubts, ask yourself a few basic questions.

WHAT MATERIAL SUITS YOU?

Do you prefer TENCEL™ Lyocell, organic cotton, or perhaps a durable fabric made from cotton and synthetic fibers? By choosing a specific material, you narrow down your options. While mixing fabrics is not forbidden, it does come with certain challenges.

"Each fabric has different breathability and thermoregulatory properties, so if you get a pillowcase made of soft cotton sateen and a duvet cover made of durable polyester, these materials will behave differently during sleep," says Jana. "Of course, you can combine fabrics with different properties and textures on the bed, but for sleeping, it's better to choose one material."

Suggested set: Bedding Grandma's House & Grandpa's Atelier

"The combination of earth tones will enliven any interior and add a bold character to the space. Thanks to muted shades, even such an expressive combination of colors will be pleasing to the eye in the bedroom."

HOW TO CHOOSE COLORS?

The bedroom is for rest and regaining energy - both physical and mental, which should be considered when choosing colors. "I always prefer to recommend calm and more subdued colors. Any colorful accents enliven the bed but should not be a distracting element. In a bright room, dark-colored bedding will stand out beautifully, whereas in a small, poorly lit room, it may look gloomy or even depressing," adds Jana.

Suggested set: Bedding Winter Fields & Midnight Diving and a knitted blanket with a Colour Melange cushion

"White and blue are associated with freshness and youth. I recommend such a color combination for interiors where the comfort of relaxing with a book or Netflix matters more than a hotel-like appearance of the bed."

When choosing bedding, we recommend avoiding aggressive colors, such as vibrant red, and bold patterns. Bedding occupies a large area of the room and thus draws attention and influences the overall atmosphere of the interior.

On the other hand, covering pillows and duvets in white is always a good choice. "This works really everywhere and with most color combinations," our creative director argues. "It looks great with subtle earth tones, but also with cool, dark colors, and suits any interior in combination with any material. Many people are afraid of white, but I think it should be an essential element of every bedroom," she adds.

Suggested set: Bedding Winter Fields & Daily Notes & Fair Play

"This is an example of using different textures. White stripes of varying widths along with gray create a very subtle combination that – if you look closely – certainly doesn't look boring. This is a great example that even a white bed doesn't have to be 'just' white."

WHAT SIZES DO YOU NEED?

Thanks to our configurator, you don't have to buy a whole set of each bedding. Do you dream of green Mum's Kingdom pillows but want a white duvet? Nothing is stopping you. All you need to do is buy a pillowcase in the appropriate size from each collection to create your own unique bedding set.

HOW MANY PILLOWS WILL BE JUST RIGHT?

At Lejaan, we pay great attention to detail, which is why we sew pillowcases in two versions - Classic with a plain edge and Oxford with a decorative flange. Choose one of them or mix and match to create a unique pillow menu. Generally, the more pillows you choose, the more Mix & Match options you gain.

Suggested set: Bedding Grandpa's Atelier & Old Memories & Quiet Jungle and a decorative throw Monochrome Melange

"Neutral earth tones combined with stripes evoke associations of elegance and sophistication. You certainly wouldn't eat pizza in such a made-up bed; you'd more likely read a newspaper – a physical one at that."
